DF Novices, Team-A, Session 66 - Diary of Merrill Tangled Tail

      Several sessions have passed since I last posted any update. The fight for freedom from their captors took several sessions. We will start with a recap of session 66, from the player of Merrill.

Diary of Merrill Tangled Tail:

*The following notes are fragmentary, on pages splattered with blood and singed at the edges. At least one page is missing, the writing that remains is even more erratic than usual.*

It said that path of Master is to make every mistake it possible to make. If that true, then Merrill well on way to being master. But there sneaking suspicion in mind that some mistakes they just mistakes, and they hurt.

Master Lashki always say, when lesson hurt, it lesson well learned. And Merrill learned many lessons very well. But this is lesson it perhaps better to learn in different way, or in different place, or perhaps not at all. Because if this lesson supposed to hurt when learning, then it very possible soon Merrill no longer able to learn more lessons.

This very long way of saying, even for Merrill, AAARGH THERE IS ARROW THROUGH LEG!!!!

But breathing. Breathing deep. It important to know where path begins that leads to crossroads on which Merrill soon must limp. Of encounter with wolf and talk of crossing rivers, Merrill will speak no more, it obvious as day is bright. So when friends break camp and Merrill finish balancing Chi, and set out to look for tracks, it seem like soon there excitement. But excitement come sooner than expected, and there more excitement than planned. When Merrill see Stout scramble down bank to safety, and Ben clearly on way back, it obvious to Merrill that there thing not right. There only two people in group that quick as quick, and this time Merrill quickest in throwing down pack and running long way around bank to be faster. Gentle slope better than climbing, yes yes! Because Merrill certain that Ben found something that is finding Ben back, Merrill shout to Ben to ask what is going on.

This is problem with Ben. Strong as mountain, fierce as raging storm, but also gentle as summer breeze. It strange, but Merrill find that all strong people he know, they always gentle and careful, as if afraid to break world by accident. It also mean that Merrill must shout more and run closer to find out what wrong. In truth, Merrill expecting to find wolf, but instead finding bandit threatening Ben. That not good, no no! Then Merrill hear Randall shout for everyone to get together, and so already running deciding to go all the way around to arrive quicker. Jump from bank faster than doubling back, yes yes!

Next moment, there horrible pain in leg and ground hit Merrill in face. That... not good. It especially not good that leg refuses to work. Why this is, Merrill does not know. After all, leg only must do few things, but now it not do any of things leg must do. Of thing that leg no longer do, it standing upright that worries most. Where was one bandit now suddenly three, and Merrill hearing more around. They all carrying swords, so there clearly more bandits around that Merrill does not see, with bows. It obvious. There IS ARROW THROUGH LEG!!!

It hurt like thing that hurts lots.

In this condition, it impossible for Merrill to fight, and it seem to him that people with swords not in mood to be friendly. So there only one hope...

Merrill surrenders.

It take long moments, and there suddenly ring of swords around neck of Merrill, but bandits shout for friends to surrender, or they kill Merrill. One bandit shout wizard, and there sound of fire. Bandits then say, friends surrender in count of five, or Merrill die.

Five second later, friends surrendered. Bandits say to Erizax that fire must surrender too, but Erizax say fire surrender by itself in one minute, and to get out of way of fire.

That is Erizax that Merrill know!

But friends now all surrendered, and weapons taken from them. Now what happened?

Are these last days of adventure for Merrill? Will leg ever again do thing that leg must do? Merrill does not know, and now he is worried. Worried he has let down friends and made mistake that has killed all.

There is arrow. Through leg.

It pointed lesson.
