DF Khoramandu Sea - campaign pause

Just a note to update the blog that the DF campaign is taking a break. We paused after session 81, once the party returned to Marsh Hall. The group has agreed their next objective: to deal with the lich-marquessa entombed under the town. In-game time will have skipped ahead a few months when we reconvene. This will give the PCs time to prepare and train (some of them had a lot of unspent points) and/or to pursue solo interests separate from the group.

The lich-marquessa is a side-villain from the second published DFRPG adventure, Against the Rat-Men. Some of the current group (Miao, Yvor, and Davin, plus the NPCs Jenkins and Warian) encountered her back in session 30 of the campaign, which was before the blog. At that time the party needed a quest object from her, in order to be able to face the real enemy of the adventure. They sensibly decided to gamble for the MacGuffin, rather than fight her. That was then.

Sir Yvor's current player has decided that tackling this lich has been put off for long enough. In fact the PC has an obsession with dealing with monsters that threaten towns, and although technically the lich is currently contained, it is arguable that Sir Yvor would not want to wait until the lich became a bigger problem. Neither would the local baron (Yvor's liege), nor the town's main temple, want to wait indefinitely. Not least politically, as rumours of a lich beneath the sewers is not going to be good reputationally, or for confidence amongst the townsfolk.
Indeed, an NPC party went in while the PCs were away, but they did not return...

[Edit] On an unrelated note, I don't like the new dumbed-down Blogger interface. I suppose I'll have to get used to it, as the option to use the old interface has now been removed.

  1. How long of a pause are you guys planning on?

We've had pauses in our DF game only because we go off and play other things for a bit, which makes for a break in the game . . . but not from gaming.

Also, yes, the new blogger interface sucks. I use the HTML interface to write my posts, and they helped out by taking out some of the shortcuts I used . . . ugh. I've noticed writing posts takes noticeably longer.

    1. Notionally about 4-6 weeks. That was couple weeks ago, so about a month or so to go.

This is a break for me from GMing. I've been running this game almost every week since March. Most of the players are doing other gaming in the interim, just not all of us together.

I am using the break as an reason to move the in-game clock forward. I require training time as well as money for new advancement. All the PCs have 40+ unspent points, and many have enough for a lens if they wanted. Or some players may take the opportunity to advance some personal goal during the downtime.

I used the Compose view, because the HTML "formatting" was atrocious. However now the Compose view has gotten worse with the new interface. It no longer shows the font correctly, and seems to be confused between Trebuchet and Trebuchet MS fonts. I gave up trying to format the above post how I had before, and just went with Arial.
