Telegraphic Attacks

Following the trial session, one of the players has asked about Telegraphic Attack, and whether I would allow it. Telegraphic Attack was an option introduced in GURPS Martial Arts, and isn't in DFRPG. It's basically the spiritual opposite to Deceptive Attack.

    The
house rules from my previous campaign included stuff from Martial Arts, so there is certainly precedent. I actually like the logic of Telegraphic Attacks: the attack is slow and deliberate enough to give the attacker a bonus to hit, but the defender gets a bonus too (and the increased to-hit chance specifically doesn't increase the crit range of the attack). This seems fair, and especially makes sense for low-skill combatants. That last point is probably the reason it was omitted last time - 250-point PCs need it a lot less than 62-pointers!

As for DFRPG, although the Telegraphic Attack option is not included by default,
I note that the same bonus is included in Backstabbing (Exploits p.57-58), so the mechanics are in there indirectly.

All in all, it makes sense to allow it.
