DF Novices, Session 24 - Report by Eleanor
We played another game on Tuesday. Introduced a new player this session, another recruit from the Unofficial GURPS Discord. I found most of my current group on that server, and I would highly recommend it to any player or GM looking for other GURPS gamers.
The actual session was an odd one, part roleplay (which was good) and part "extended OOC planning discussion around what to do next and whether the PCs could afford to level up" (which was... less good). Anyway it's done, and the party managed to get paid, and struck a deal for more ore from the mine, and most of the PCs are "levelled up" now. Not the most auspicious start for a new player without any money or XP, but it's out of the way and we can get back to the default activity of going into dark places and hitting things, for which a half-ogre barbarian (even a rookie one) is eminently qualified.
Here is another quick write-up from the player of Eleanor. I award an Impulse Point for any player that writes a summary which I can post to the blog.
Doran Longbeard, dwarf knight, 86 points (PC)
Ben, half-ogre barbarian, 65 points (PC)
Randall, human warrior, 123 points (NPC)
Cynric the Wild, human berserker, 62 points (NPC)

It was nice to enjoy the mead that I bought as well. Three silver for a bottle? That felt like absurdly expensive, but at least uncle Baris was happy with it.
There was a lot of talk about what she should do but I believe we all agreed to go to the caverns next.
Oh, and we met a new person. Ben. Another half-ogre. I don't know what it is with people being scared of half-ogres at this point. The two I've met personally are both surprisingly docile. Ben might not be as much of a pacifist as Borgergorg. I wonder where he went.
Anyway, we're at least getting out there again soon. If we meet the rat monster again.. well, I got more than a few bolts left, and he's only got one eye left.

After this session we are skipping ahead two weeks of game-calendar, to account for the necessary R&R and training time. Time for me to get re-stocking...
