We found a secret door. Sure other things also happened, like finding a cursed room with a cursed altar and a cursed statuette of the wicked rat god, guarded by rats. But I didn't particularly participate in much of that. The rats were slain with minor bruises all around. I think Doran was the only one to get nibbled on during the fight. It was a struggle, mostly because they got beset from various directions, though at the same time Doran could mostly ignore the rats as they could barely even get through his armour.
Yorgen flipped his sword out of his hand as he went for a swing and then proceeded to give Randall room to take over so he could then pick up his sword.
But let's go back to the secret door. Ulokk and I spent the long time we had while the Clerics exorcized the room looking around the walls for just that. Although this door was certainly far different. The only things we could find were four small holes and an outline where we thought the door was. It took a lot of attempts. From shoving bolts into the holes, to dripping blood into there, until we finally figured out a way to open it by filling the holes with smooth pebbles that fit into a kind of sunken part.
It's rather exciting. Adventuring would be far more pleasant if there were more things like this instead of horrendous rat-goblin and rat-orc monsters. Hopefully we found the secret cache of whoever put value in this mine a long time ago, seeing how this place is dustier than any other place.
It is a strange reminder of things I had done before. I didn't live a life cracking strange special doors with supernatural(?) mechanical pieces but I did spend most of my early life breaking into places. My uncle was a professional after all. He said he brought me along mostly because he could tell that I brought good luck. I certainly hope that's true, but so far there's been as many fortunes as there have been misfortunes. At least so far only one person has died.
It does make me wonder what kinds of things we may encounter in the future. If we can find a weird crypt locked by magic in a mine where there are no other apparent things like it… Imagine what we might find in an actual burial place full of magic. I am not sure if I should be worried or excited. I am a bit of both. At this point I feel like the mines will not be a big problem. Whatever is left is likely to be ours for the taking. If there are any Goblins and/or Orcs here then surely they are all gathered together, hoping to ambush us.
And if not we may be able to finally get something for this place. Though Yorgen warned us that we shouldn't get involved, or at least if we do get involved that we should watch our backs as powerful people are interested in this place.
All I know is that I will definitely need a few drinks, a warm bath and a comfortable bed after this…

GM note: Beyond the secret door was a squarish room, covered in a thick layer of dust, and along the far wall a sarcophagus was flanked and illuminated by two candelabras casting a magical light. It was getting late by this point, and we were going to end the session there. However the player of Doran was in such a hurry to examine the sarcophagus that he rushed into the room, and in so doing triggered a trap which unleashed a volley of 5 arrows across the room. Doran was able to react fast enough to block three of the arrows, but not all. He took a missile hit in each leg....
Then we paused the session.
