Preparing for next session
The next session this coming Thursday may be the last for a little while. Then we'll likely be playing other games for a few weeks. I still need to see which games will be running. Hopefully some other players who are intending to GM will have be ready to commit by Thursday. I'd willingly keep running this in a pinch, but I know that some others want their turn behind the GM screen.
In any case, that means that the group has one session remaining with the current lineup. Under the circumstances, they have decided to press on, rather than fall back. They have used most of their healing consumables. Both fighters and spellcasters are low on FP. None are below 1/3 fatigue, but they will be after the next fight. Spellcaster energy reserves and power items have certainly been used. The NPC healer's Power Item (only 4 FP to start with) has been drained.
The players know that they have a potential fight on their hands that once started, they will have to win; because if they are forced to flee, they will probably be outrun by their pursuers. They are gambling on being able to secure the room once they have defeated whatever hobgoblins await them, because they will surely want to rest long enough to catch their breath.
The hobgoblins know the PCs are on the other side of the door (the door which the party thief spiked shut). Indeed a surviving hobgoblin stepped through the door, before it was spiked. And there were obviously others in that room, even if the PCs didn't see them. The party has heard a commotion and shouting beyond the door, yet the hobgoblins have made no serious attempt to force the door.
I am interested to see how this turns out. It could be a make or break encounter.
Now I just need to make sure I have enough minis...
