Miao Miao's Musings - Session 74
The following account is by Miao; an IC summary of the last session. I give +1 character point (XP) for those players who submit a summary for me to post here on the blog. This session was played 2020/07/30.

Miao Miao's Musings
There not many times when Miao sad, but... now, Miao sad.
Oh, Miao not angry at kittens, Miao not angry-sad, just... suppose Miao better start at beginning.
We leave town in half hurry, with kitten invisible because guard certainly looking for them and us. So, Miao feel pretty good when we all walk away, make guard look silly and now kittens rescued! Hurray! Of course, there is much discussion about who carry what because Miao had told driver of cart not wait for everyone, in case group thrown in dungeon. Of course, Miao not use that phrase, but meaning probably clear. So, suddenly, everyone must carry own things.
Miao already carrying own things, and Jenkins already carrying many things for other people along with things Jenkins carry for Miao. So, this time, it not option to simply give everything to Jenkins and forget about things. No, this time, everyone carry own things, and few more things because there now too many things.
In end, Miao carry two more swords and buckler, and snarl at Davin for suggesting we make kittens carry things for us. It not build character, it not show we trust, it certainly not expected thing. It slavery, and Miao promised to protect kittens.
So, when riders came from town, Miao happy to lie for kittens, and say we had not seen them. At all. Ever. Certainly not, no no Constable, but if Miao see kittens, she send them back to town, yes yes, honest cat.
Then Constable say, Sister Jhansi worried about kittens. Who Sister Jhansi, Miao ask. Is Sister in charge of orphanage, say Constable.
So, when Constable gone, and Bert return from hiding with kittens, Miao ask question about sister Jhansi. Why kittens want go with us when there is safe nest? Is nest safe? Yes? Then perhaps kittens should go back.
It break Miao's heart to see kitten crying, wanting to go back to nest. So, Miao say, we bring kittens back to town, it for best. It all for best... and still Miao's heart breaking.
It hard to understand? See, Miao had already imagined long trip on road with kittens, getting to know little ones, teaching them how handle sword safely, give each buckler and short sword as present, so they remember Miao... Teach how to survive bit in woods, from Hemmu. Teach book things and maybe magic things from Davin and Adam. Teach about Goddess from Warian, how survive in town from Bert, how behave with manners from Jenkins. Many, many things.
Perhaps it Cat-kin thing, but... Cat-kin very protective of kittens. Of all kittens. It no matter they have no fur, or no tail, or wrong number of legs. Cat-kin protect kittens, nurture kittens, want kittens to survive and grow strong. So, when time to send kittens back to own nest... Miao sad.
Miao very, very sad.
So, Miao in sad mood when going on road, in mood to talk. Miao remember so many times, when Miao was kitten, she did things like kittens did. Run away to become adventurer, be brought back by adventurer after few days, running into swordsman, learning how handle sword, learning how run in woods from brothers, how to jump and leap from sisters, how not to be caught when in place where Miao not supposed to be from... hah, from Mother. That was funny lesson.
Unfortunately, nobody really want speak of time when they were kittens. Perhaps they not have protective mother cat like Miao had when little? It only cat-kin that protective of kittens? It strange.
Stranger thing, of course, when Bert found very tall being when scouting. How tall, Miao ask. Well, can see them when they still more than mile off, say Bert, or words to effect. Miao certain there was allusion to coney in warren there somewhere, possibly involving a creature known as 'reynard', but meaning very clear. Meaning very clear these days, Miao getting used to way Bert speak. It cheer Miao up.
But being so tall can be seen from more than mile? Giant! Yes yes, Big-One! So, say Davin, perhaps it best Miao go see from higher up? And suddenly Miao can walk where there is no ground. That also cheer Miao up.
So, Miao in better mood when she see Giant in distance, run around... run away from something. That odd. What Giant running to, ask group. No no, ask Miao... what Giant running from? That much more dangerous.
So, Miao run off, forget to go back onto ground in excitement, and meet up with Giant fighting off four Goat-kin. Now, normally Miao try to break up fight and perhaps find solution, but this Goat-things! Miao sworn to show Goat-things no mercy, so Miao run in and start stabbing, start slashing...
It take three second, maybe four, and then all Goat-things dead, either slashed, stabbed or crushed by club of Giant. Sit down, say Miao to Big Friend, Miao is friend, Miao knows healer, will look after Big Friend.
Happily, then rest of group arrive after little while (Miao always forget they so slow, will need remember that in future) and Warian, good Warian, go to heal Giant.
But wait... hear this, ask Hemmu? Hear what, Miao ask, and turn to look towards area Hemmu pointing at.
Then Miao see, then Hemmu see, then Yvor see, and we form fighting line to protect friends.
Volgs! What they doing in Ioscany?! Ugh, it not enough they destroy other kingdoms, they must come here too?! Well, they in trouble now.
Miao is certain, we outnumber them one to ten.
