The Lays of the Thirteen Claws League - Session 82
This is a semi-IC summary of the last session by Bert. I give +1 character point (XP) for those players who submit a summary for me to post here on the blog. This session was played on 2021/01/07.
The Lays of the Thirteen Claws League
Canto 1:
To restart our story, where to begin?
with penurious Lady Miao sat, en seul
in the common room of a city inn
as if set adrift in life with no goal
when, all of a sudden, who in would stroll?
Young Adam and strong Hemmu, then the rest
of their friends, to sit, drink and share a bowl
of soup while doing the thing they do best:
plotting and debating their next glorious quest.
We’d all changed: Yvor was more muscle strong
Adam had more lightning, Hemmu more skill,
I’d learned how to craft and sing a good song,
Miao had honed a new way to surely kill
magic users, Davin had grown in will.
So, we sat, each with meat and beer in hand
(we let old Sir Yvor pick up the bill)
while we chatted, cogitated and planned
what to do next as a valorous merry band.
Miao: “In Lararno, unfinished business
Awaits: the mayor slain and the orphans enslaved
we must return to deal with the city’s mess”
Yvor: “But, Miao, remember when we braved
Marsh Hall’s underside and found the depraved
creature there, a foul undead aggressor
from whom the city’s people must be saved:
it is our joyful duty, no pressure,
to fight and end the foul Lady Lich-Marquessa.”
But how to destroy a Lich? Or, at least
remove the threat: I went with Sir Yvor
and Davin to consult the temple priest
“Have you dealt with such foul fiend folk before?”
No, but he would call an inquisitor.
He knew of the divine, not of magick,
he talked more about Davin’s behaviour
than the threat below that was so epic
(Yvor didn’t tell, lest the mage grew choleric).
Miao and Adam also took up the task:
went to the wizard’s university
to find a sage or maven there to ask
how puissant a magus would have to be
to keep, by will alone, their ipseity
and put the question: “Truly, how can a
Lich be slain? “ And the wizard replied: “See,
it can be achieved by a great planner
who can get the Lich to a place without mana.”
So, there followed a great deal debated
about burial, betrayal and bread
dismemberment, and, much more related,
of how to put to rest the evil undead.
More needed to be investigated,
we needed to find better means and tools:
where might no mana zones be located?
It would not be easy: Liches, are not fools.
Maybe look at the activity of her ghouls?
So, then we began to consider a
plan: Miao knew a place in the catacombs
to take the Lich – we’d ask guard Elidra
about her lost Claude, to find the ghouls’ rooms
to send some of them to their timely tombs
and then learn what we could about the Lich
from those rotten fruit of unholy wombs.
Then we can begin settling Yvor’s itch
to finally lay to rest the blasphemous Bitch!
