We figured out where we were. I realized that it was necessary to mark our path and used some chalk. There were a few more rodents that we killed.
Then we came upon an altar to some.. half-human, half-rat thing. It was clearly some strange, eldritch god that these goblins worshiped. We found some writings and then heard a group arrive outside of our doors. I figured we'd use the room to our advantage but the group moved out to fight them in the corridor.
Goblins. Tons of them. Their leader spoke common and offered us a deal but Renaud immediately shut it down.
It's been a lengthy fight. The longer it goes on the more dire it feels. Cynric has fallen over. Renaud is on the floor. Randall says he can't even damage the leader. Doran keeps swinging wildly. Erizax looks spent. Agis is struggling to keep himself safe against the monster that the Goblin turned into. A rat creature of some kind.
But there's no time for that. I have to focus. It's do or die now. And I got my crossbow and a bolt with this Goblin.. rat.. thing's name on it. Take a breath. Squeeze the trigger. Either it dies, or we do…

That really captured the session tension.
